We arrived in Alaska on Friday morning and took a shuttle bus to Anchorage. We spent three nights

in Anchorage, renting a car and site-seeing around the area before heading back to Las Vegas.

An Ulu knife is a curved knife used by native Alaskans. This factory was only three blocks from our hotel,

but more interesting is that right behind this building is Ship creek, a rather small creek, but home of a yearly

Salmon tournament. This tournament was going on while we were there and they were pulling out King

Salmon 30-40 lbs and more. The winning fish for this 10-day tournament was 48.37 pounds.

This is the little creek where they pulled out King Salmon 30-40 pounds and heavier

Our hotel was next to the Hilton pictured. This open market is open Saturday and Sunday during good weather.

Nothing unusual about the picture below, except it was taken from our hotel window 11:30 AT NIGHT!

During out time there, daylight lasted about 18 hours. During the winter, daylight might be only six hours.

Most of the mountain climbing expeditions and airplane tours of Mt. McKinley originate in Talkeetna

Portage Lake, home of a number of glaciers. We took a lake cruise to get up close to the glaciers.

Whittier, Alaska. Another port for cruise ships

Back in sunny Anchorage

Heading back to Vegas. There are approximately 100,000 glaciers in Alaska
