Hawaii 2006 Waikiki ● Diamond Head Climb ● From Our Room ● Oahu Miscellaneous ● The Island of Kauai The Island of Kauai basks amidst the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. Formed some six million years ago, the island encompasses roughly 550 square miles and is the oldest and northernmost of the main Hawaiian Islands. |
One day was set aside to go to the island

All those little white dots on the hill are birds nesting.
Plenty of beaches on Kauai.
Waimea Canyon Ten miles long and about 3,600 feet deep, Waimea Canyon was described by Mark Twain as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." One memorable image of the canyon that will remain with you, beyond the incredible scale of it all, is the rainbow of colors that dance along the canyon peaks. From the last two lookouts there are spectacular views into Kalalau Valley, one of the most beautiful sights on the island. Kalalau Lookout
