October 2006 Cruise to the Western Caribbean

Before starting the cruise we spent two nights in Miami Beach. Unfortunately, Gloria stepped out on our balcony, not knowing there was a 10 inch drop-off and sprained her ankle. Everything is fine, but you'll see pictures of her with a cane and her ankle wrapped. It slowed us down a bit, but didn't stop us from our activities.

All the islands visited are still recovering from hurricanes last year. Tourism is a major industry and in some locations, it was months before the cruise ships were able to dock. Although poverty is a common theme, all islands have a number of beautiful beaches, shopping areas for the tourists and expensive resorts for those who want to be isolated.
