World's Largest Cruise Ship Coming to UK and Europe for First Time
(6 a.m. EST) -- The world's largest cruise ship will make its debut call in Southampton in October 2014,

as revealed by Cruise Industry News yesterday (Tue. 26).

Royal Caribbean's 225,282-ton, 5,400-passenger Oasis of the Seas will leave Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, its home port since

December 2009, on 1 September 2014 on a 12-night eastbound transatlantic cruise to Barcelona. It will offer two five-night round-trip cruises from

the Spanish port, followed by a seven-night sailing to Rotterdam.

Oasis will then head into dry dock in the Netherlands for routine maintenance for two weeks, departing from Rotterdam on 14 October and calling at

Southampton the next day. The ship will return to its home port of Port Everglades on a 12-night westbound transatlantic cruise on 15 October, where

U.K. passengers can join the ship to sail across the Atlantic.

Oasis of the Seas is the largest passenger ship in the world alongside its sister Allure of the Seas.

It will be 40 percent larger than any other cruise ship to ever dock in the U.K. and will join two further Royal Caribbean International ships based in the

port, Independence of the Seas and sister brand Celebrity Cruises' Eclipse.
