Inside Notre Dame Cathedral

With a history stretching back over 2,000 years, the Archaeological Crypt lying beneath the square of Paris's famed Notre Dame Cathedral offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich and tumultous developments of Paris history. Comprising remains discovered during archaeological excavations between 1965 and 1972, the archaeological crypt (Crypte Archaeologique du Parvis de Notre Dame) was inaugurated as a museum in 1980.
