Grandpa was never in the military, so we don't know why he was wearing the uniform.

Grandpa was born in 1901 

The below is info I gathered several years ago from a bible that Sharon had from Alberta Gibson, a niece of one of Grandpa Brown's half sister.

Based on Lona being born in April 1903, this picture would have been probably 1904 or 1905.

This also shows Great grandma Brown's name as Eliza, where the above picture shows the name Etta. 

I also don't understand Ancestry.com showing Great grandpa Brown's name as Simon D. Brown

No knowledge of who the back row kids are or who was cut out of the picture.

Below is from a web page I created several years ago from items that Sharon had. They may provide additional info on our heritage.

John Russell III's family tree showed Grandpa Brown's name as Simon Brown and I wondered where that came from.
It might have come from this, which shows "Siamon Low Ranzy Dow Brown". At the end of this page, I've added info
for Simon Brown from JR's ancestry page. Maybe we can figure out more about grandpa from this.

Also, the 1910 Census shows a "Naman" Brown that was 9 years old.
Grandpa was born in 1901 and would have been 9, but no mention of a 9 year old "Olen"
is shown in the census. Could this be another one of those misunderstanding/bad spellings?
I have never heard of a "Naman" nor of a "Sausan" as shown in one of the above ancestor
screen captures, who also happened to be born in 1901.
