23 Trees

William, Marie (Purcell), Jim, Lorraine (Lyon), Raymond, Laverne (Zorich), Johnny, Mildred (Brown), Earl and Bobby.

I believe my research shows that either your mom or your dad is my 1st cousin.

My mom's maiden name is Mildred Russell, who I believe is the sister of one of your grandparents the way I figure.

Her siblings (born with the last name Russell) and the female married names were: William, Marie (Purcell), Jim, Lorraine (Lyon), Raymond, Laverne (Zorich), Johnny, Mildred (Brown - my mom), Earl and Bobby.

My grandmother (should be your great-grandmother) is Laura (Hongsermeyer) Russell who married John Russell on June 13, 1911.

Hopefully one of these names will sound familiar.

You come up as my 2nd cousin once removed and I'm trying to figure out a little more detail.

I believe one of your great-grandparents is a sibling of one of mine and the name I am looking for is either a Russell or a Hongsermeyer.

Thanks.

You come up as my 3rd cousin and I'm trying to figure out a little more detail.

23andMe show we are 2nd cousins.

I believe one of my grand parents on my father's side is a sibling of one of yours.

They key names would either be Brown or Dockins.

Thanks.

Shannon,

Your dad, Thomas, is my cousin, so which Russell was his father, (who would have been my mom's (Mildred) brother?

I know it wasn't John or Earl.

Thanks. Hope things are well with you and your family.

Also, has Shawn done any more research on the Hongsermeyer family? It has been more than ten years since I had contact with him.

23andMe says we are first cousins, which, seeing the name Russell, probably is a good chance. Are you the one I traded emails with back maybe 20 years ago? The West Point grad? My mother's maiden name (she passed in 1997) was Mildred Laura Russell, daughter of John and Laura Russell (Hongsermeyer). She had many brothers; John, Earl, William, Jim, Bobby and Raymond. Sisters were Lorraine and Marie. I'm 70, retired and currently living in Lake Ozark, MO.

The West Point grad I exchanged emails with many years back was Shaun (sp?) Russell, not you Shannon. Shaun's father would have been my cousin. I lost track of many of my cousins on the Russell side. Depending on your age, you or your father would be my cousin if I have it figured out correctly.

I'm not sure where we match up, Shannon. Here is some of what I know on the Russells if it helps. Bill (William Earl) Brown, born June 27, 1948 in St. Louis, MO. Father was Olen Brown, Jr., son of Ransom Olen Brown and Ella (nee Dockins) Brown and Mildred Laura (Russell) Brown, daughter of John and Laura Russell (Hongsermeyer). Grandma Russell was born Mar. 5, 1890 in Westphalia, Germany. Mom (Mildred) was one of I believe ten children. Here are the 10 Russells. William 1911 ------------ Marie (Purcell) 1913- 2000 Jim 1914 -------------- Lorraine (Lyon) 1915-1991 Raymond 1916-1988 Laverne (Zorich) 1918 ------------ Johnny 1920 Dec. 25 -1980 Jan. 30 Mildred Laura (Brown) 1923 March 20 1997 June 5 Earl 1925 July 8 1986-March 17 Bobby 1930-1986

Hi Bill, I'm just now logging in after a long time and seeing your message. Shawn is my brother (the West Point Grad). And my dad (your cousin) is Thomas Patrick. Nice to meet you.

Shannon, thanks for the reply. So which of the Russell children was your grandfather? I do have some pictures and limited info on my grandma Russell (Hongsermeyer), but nothing on grandpa Russell because he died so young. I will put what I have together over the next few weeks and get what I have to you. Sometimes these type of websites don't allow the posting of an email address, so if you don't get this (Bill@BBrown17.com), maybe you can decipher this. Bill at BBrown17 c o m Thanks.

Dockins is my maiden name. My dad Jesse passed in 96. I believe he was born 1935. I do not know a lot about his father. He was raised by step dad with last name Parker. His mother’s name was jewel.

Thanks. I'll do some more research. My grandmother on my dad's side was Ella Dockins (born in 1905, married name Brown) and her father ,which would be my great grandfather was Ed Dockins, probably born in the 1880s or so. So my dad could have been a cousin of your dad. All I remember about the Ed Dockins family was that in the 1950s we would drive down to their farm in Advance, MO. No electricity or running water! So I'm guessing that if Ed Dockins is not directly a relative of yours, he is maybe a brother/cousin of your great-grandfather. Thanks for the update. Bill at BBrown17 dot com
